The 3407th Chapter of The Church of Nonconformity
Your followers are a tight-knit bunch,
who would step over their own grandmother for a buck,
who are free and fun loving,
and who do not obsess overmuch about their beliefs.
Your followers wear whatever they want.
Your followers are
growing (over 100,000),
and they are trying to spread the "good word" through their good works, and by example.
Take this quiz now - it's easy!
So, those of you who know
repowers will know of the JESUSMOBILE.

But today, I saw that even Australia has its own claim.
A JESUSBUS.
Yeah. A campervan/bus*, in white, with about a hundred slogans about repentance, rapture, redemption, and sin plastered all over it, while blaring out gospels and songs of praise. The guy driving it looked like Santa who'd gone to pot.
I wish I had my camera (I was standing near it for about five minutes at the lights), but my camera is, like a robot alligator, big and heavy.
* Definitely a bus, in that it had the double swing doors midway down the length, but you could see through the windows that prior to this incarnation, it'd been fitted with cupboards and a sink.

Quite a good little article on "respect" as pertains to recognising the belief systems of others, and trying to define where to draw a line between tolerance and admiration. Also, some good coverage of political issues in the US and the significant trend towards a religious bent.

This is part of why I have such a hard time with religion.
And, where are the non-fundies raising a fuss over these comments? Where are the normal Christians saying, "Hey, that's not accurate or fair at all"?

Also, some stuff picked up from the blogs.
Bumper stickers are lightning rods for the religious - a couple are pulled over only ot be asked questions about their bumper stickers (promoting druidism) only to then be proselytised by a "volunteer" cop, who then later sent a letter to their home address further sermonising them. The fact that this volunteer cop appears to SOLELY BE PRESENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF WITNESSING FOR JAYSUS seems a bit disconcerting, when supposedly there is a distinction between church and state..
Meanwhile, Toyota to build a nre factory in Canada, employing 1300 - why? Because Americans are not as educated or as skilled as Canadians. This to me heralds a potential science blackout for the US - with more attention now being given to the arguments over whether to accept religious teachings in science classes, other commerically based scientific endeavours will snub the US because they will be seen as being less well educated. As a cartoon of a Chinese scientist once said, "Hey, GO FOR IT! Teach "creationism" in biology - more dollars for me in the end."
