Woot.

Am going over to a BBQ at our Education Officer's, since she leaves next weekend. I figured I'd go, since also one of her friends who may be there is someone I went to school with and haven't seen since 1988. Curious if she remembers me at all.

That said, I'm taking some beef chavets, I've got Bacardi and coke mixers (mmm, drinking one now), and I've started on my summer salad fare. So, why not - here's the recipe!

Ingredients
  • can of four bean mix
  • can of baby potatoes
  • pasta
  • tin of crab meat
  • tin of shelled shrimp
  • 1 red onion
  • either a bottle of lime and chili sauce, or lemon, lime and pepper. I'm going with the latter, because the store lacked the former.
  • herbs and spices as you see fit.

    Steps.
Put the pasta on to cook, get it all nice and al dente. The potatoes and onion should be left to cook, but not so that they go soft and rubbery. You want a degree of firmness. Put the crab, shrimp and about 1/3 of the bottle of sauce in a bowl, and mix well. Drain the beans off. Once the potatoes and onion are cooked, drain and let them soak for a while in another third of the sauce. Put the crab mix into a bowl in the fridge to chill, while reusing the bowl for the potatoes. to soak in. You may want to add spices and stuff to the potatoes here.

Now, once all the stuff is ready, drain the pasta, and put everything into your serving dish. Mix well. Drizzle the rest of the sauce over the mixture. You may want to put a bed of lettuce down in the dish for presentation.

That's basically it. As you can see, it;s a guerilla cooking style. Just mix and match stuff. Don't like beans? Try water chestnuts. Don't like red onion? Don't use it.
