So, the cold. Kicked my ass, mostly. Called in sick, since I couldn't even put my glasses on without my eyes watering like hell. Went back to bed, slept pretty much most of the day away. Woke up mid arvo with a pounding headache, which has eased somewhat. Likewise, the sore glands/throat has eased off. I should be fine for work tomorrow - much to my chagrin, I guess.

In some other news, OMGWTF computer is working. I installed an older copy of XP I had, and guess what? No conflicts. Was able to update the graphics card fine. Later, it reverted back for some insane reason, to 800x600x16, but then I did an "internal" update, and.. no problems since. Seriously bizarre. So far, I've not really tested the card too much - Sid Meier's Pirates looks divine in 1280x1024, with full detail. Warcraft 3 looks good - but Lego SW 2 gives me an installation error, claiming something on the disc is damaged :/

Ah well.

In other news:

Holy hell. I got the new monitor, and by god is it big. The whole screen is big as well. Everything's big.

I ended up getting an Acer model, 19" LCD from Big W. I went to all the computer stores locally, and they were either too pricey, or just disinterested in helping me. One store only had two models in stock, and they looked... retro. Like, tripod stand mounted to the screen. Weird. But this one was $474 from Big W, they had it in stock, and it's black as well, which suits my further plans....... there are ways.. WAYS!

Got the other stuff done I wanted to, so all is right with the world, it seems. Aside from being humid as hell.

Also, went cycling last night, maybe for 30 minutes? Just around the local river parkland, to "test drive" myself.. was good, and tonight I might do the same again, and take the camera.. there's a lot more corellas around here than I thought. I figured maybe a dozen.. I saw about 150 last night in one spot.

Well, tonight I sat down and gutted two PC cases, to rebuild a single, functional machine for my Linux platform.. sadly, for some reasons, the case holes for the gold/bronze supports for the motherboard are just too tight for the screw threads to enter :/ THAT'S not a cool thing. Otherwise, I'd probably have the machine finished by now, save a need for some RAM - which I can probably either scavenge up, or buy on the cheap anyway.
