Also, some stuff picked up from the blogs.

Bumper stickers are lightning rods for the religious - a couple are pulled over only ot be asked questions about their bumper stickers (promoting druidism) only to then be proselytised by a "volunteer" cop, who then later sent a letter to their home address further sermonising them. The fact that this volunteer cop appears to SOLELY BE PRESENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF WITNESSING FOR JAYSUS seems a bit disconcerting, when supposedly there is a distinction between church and state..

Meanwhile, Toyota to build a nre factory in Canada, employing 1300 - why? Because Americans are not as educated or as skilled as Canadians. This to me heralds a potential science blackout for the US - with more attention now being given to the arguments over whether to accept religious teachings in science classes, other commerically based scientific endeavours will snub the US because they will be seen as being less well educated. As a cartoon of a Chinese scientist once said, "Hey, GO FOR IT! Teach "creationism" in biology - more dollars for me in the end."

When I started reading the Toyota article, I was skeptical as to whether this was REALLY a matter of "Canadian work-force better educated", or a matter of "Canadian dollar so weak, much less expensive to employ OR train in Canada". I was interested to see that the Canadian officials also said that Canada's taxpayer-funded healthcare system was also a boon to employers.

However, it was really depressing to read this:
He said Nissan and Honda have encountered difficulties getting new plants up to full production in recent years in Mississippi and Alabama due to an untrained - and often illiterate - workforce. In Alabama, trainers had to use "pictorials" to teach some illiterate workers how to use high-tech plant equipment.

Leaving aside the religion in science issue, that's horrible. I am curious as to whether this illiterate workforce is just plain illiterate, or comprised of recent immigrants and other non-English speakers.

Separation between Church and State in the US? That's so 20th century.

And unfortunately, the US is collapsing faster on more fronts than any other nation. Ya don't need no "educashion" to work the register at Wal-Mart or other miscellaneous strip mall.

All bow down before our future Chinese overlords!

There's your answer right there. Mississippi? Alabama? Bwaaaa! Does not surprise me in the least.

Bumper sticker story reminds me of something related that actually happened in Albany (West Oz) a couple of years back (and reported in the West Australian newspaper's Inside Cover section by the woman it happened to).
Nice Christian lady is giving way to another car at a roundabout in Albany, a street back from the main drag in town.
Notices 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker on the back of said car, and decides that a bit of brotherly/sisterly Christian love is in order. So she honks.
Woman driving stops car in middle of roundabout, gets out of car and proceeds to swear at woman, informing her of her correct indication through roundabout and that she should keep her #%$@ing horn to herself!

Ta,
Martin

That is because Toyota, Nissan and Honda are bloodsucking rice-eating devil corporations. They could find a perfectly competent and skilled workforce if they didn't refuse to use union shops in the north. You want places where the government militantly enforces open shop rules? You get unskilled retards. You get what you pay for, chinkee.
